About our School

North Duffield Community Primary is a small school in the village of North Duffield near Selby. The school currently has 118 children on roll, most of them from the immediate locality and surrounding villages.

North Duffield Primary was judged as a good school by OFSTED in January 2023. The report recognises our pupils are at the heart of everything we do. Decisions are made in the best interest of our pupils. They are safe, happy, polite and proud of our school. All of our pupils are supported to access a highly ambitious curriculum.

The school is made up of five classes with children aged from 4 to 11 years old. Some pupils are organised into mixed-age classes. The school presently holds a number of awards, including the International Schools Award, Healthy Schools Award, School Games Mark, Arts Mark, Primary Science Quality Mark, the Basic Skills Quality Mark and it is a leading school for inclusion in North Yorkshire.

We are also proud to be a part of the OPAL play scheme and have expanded our outdoor provision areas significantly so the children can explore the following exciting provision areas during breaks and lunch;
- Treasure Island,
- The Haven and craft/ board games zone,
- Our den building zone (dengineering),
- The muddy cafe,
- Wheelie world,
- Small world,
- Our new outdoor Theatre, costume and prop department

This is in addition to our huge playing field, two playgrounds, clip and climb, gym equipment, Forest School and other playground games we have available for the children every day.

Literacy and encouraging the love of reading is very important to us and we are pleased to have a large, well-stocked library with lots of books from all different genres and for all ages and abilities. Each class visit the library at least once a week and swap their library books weekly.

Our children's pastoral needs are also very important to us and as well as having an experienced, dedicated Pastoral Lead we also have a Pastoral / sensory room for our children to use whenever they need it.
