S In our class 4 classroom, learning is active, engaging, and designed to build strong foundations for future success. Year 4 pupils work confidently towards their Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), developing rapid recall through daily practice and fun number challenges.
Across the class, literacy lessons explore a wide range of writing genres – from narrative and persuasive writing to reports and poetry- helping pupils build their creativity, vocabulary, and understanding of key areas in grammar. In class 4, we are focusing on our current class novel ‘Matilda’ by Roald Dahl. Here, we analyse and interpret the text and characters, picking apart Roald Dahl’s ingenious writing style which mixes humour and relatability.
In maths, children deepen their skills in key areas such as fractions, place value, problem-solving and written methods for the four operations.
Science lessons are brought to life through hands-on experiments and investigations, developing curiosity and scientific thinking as pupils explore topics such as forces, states of matter, and living things.
There is also the opportunity to engage in topics that are important to wider-life. Such as, anti-bullying week, mental health day, black history month and children in need which all encourage the children to discuss and learn more about topics that may not be discussed in the explicit school curriculum.
Together, these elements create an enjoyable and dynamic learning environment where every child is supported and inspired to thrive.
