Sensory Time
We have a dedicated Multi-Sensory & Pastoral Room in school which is accessible to all of the pupils. It is a therapeutic environment, providing a calm space for children experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties and offering an alternative way for children with special educational needs to develop a range of physical skills.
We also have a new large, accessible Sensory Garden in the playground where children can experience a whole host of sensations; from the fragrant plants and flowers, to the colourful sculptures. There is an interactive aspect with a multi-sensory wall and musical instruments. This area provides children with a tranquil space to sit or play, away from the stimulation of the playground.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of local business GBUK Healthcare, who recently donated £1,700, we have been able to purchase a Sensorykraft 7-in-1 Portable Kozy Lounger for the room. The specially designed chair combines the benefits of gentle visual, tactile and audio stimulation whilst providing deep pressure therapy, the ideal safe-haven for children.
